Town Stunned by Discovery of ‘Thinnest Dog Ever Seen

There is growing concern for the welfare of an extremely emaciated dog that was found abandoned on a street in Anytown. Rescuers were shocked by the dog’s condition, describing it as the “thinnest dog they had ever seen.”

Lucas, the skinny rescue dog, had 98 per cent fur loss

The stray dog, believed to be around 2 years old, was spotted lying motionless on the sidewalk by a passerby. Its rib cage and hip bones were prominently visible underneath its patchy fur. The dog seemed too weak to stand or move.

Animal welfare officers were called to the scene and transported the dog to the local animal hospital. Vets estimated the dog’s body weight to be less than half of the normal weight for its breed and age. It was severely malnourished and dehydrated.

Police found Lucas abandoned on a street and called RSPCA

“This is one of the worst cases of animal neglect I’ve come across. The dog is literally skin and bones. Someone has clearly failed to provide even the most basic care by not feeding or giving this poor dog water,” said the leading vet.

Authorities believe the emaciated dog was deliberately abandoned by its previous owners. It did not have a microchip or collar. Nobody has come forward to claim ownership of the dog so far.

RSPCA is appealing for information about what had happened to Lucas

The dog is now receiving emergency veterinary treatment, but its health remains critical. Vets are administering fluids and carefully monitoring feeding to avoid refeeding syndrome, a potentially fatal condition.

The animal hospital has been inundated with calls from concerned local residents offering donations or asking to adopt the dog. However, it is still too early to say if or when the dog may recover enough to be eligible for adoption.

In the meantime, an investigation is underway to find who neglected this dog and abandoned it in such an irresponsible way. Animal cruelty charges could be brought once the culprits are identified.

The disturbing case has renewed calls for stronger legal protections for domestic animals against abuse, abandonment and neglect.
