Three leopards illicitly trespassed into ostrich territory to test the ostrich’s incredible running prowess, but the swift ostrich made it impossible for the leopards to catch up.
The story took place at a nature reserve in South Africa, where three adult leopards stealthily entered the ostrich flock’s territory illegally. The leopard pack wanted to test if they could hunt the world’s fastest running bird.
Initially, the leopards approached a young ostrich. But when they pounced to attack, the ostrich quickly accelerated to a speed of 70km/h. The three leopards persistently chased after it but still could not catch up to the agile prey. Finally, after half an hour of fruitless pursuit, the leopards gave up.
The video capturing the scene went viral on social media. It demonstrates the ostrich’s astounding power when threatened. Its swiftness left the predator helpless.
