On Saturday, October 5, 2023, the Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers faced off in the first half of their NBA preseason opener at Chase Center.
In the waning seconds of the first quarter, with Golden State leading Los Angeles 29-21, Jonathan Kuminga threw an alley-oop to an inactive Steph Curry beyond the paint.
Curry and his new partner on the Warriors, Chris Paul, laughed it off on the bench.
After the performance, even Kuminga smiled.
On 3-of-7 shooting from the field and 1-of-4 from beyond the arc, the 21-year-old tallied nine points, four rebounds, two assists, and a block by halftime.
Now that the regular season has begun, the Warriors may laugh off the gaffe, but they’ll need to make fewer mistakes when they face the Phoenix Suns at Chase Center on October 24.
