The CEO of Ford has just taken a dig at Tesla, saying the Cybertruck is for “Silicon Valley people” not “for real people who do real work”.
In fact, Jim Farley says he’s not threatened by the Cybertruck and doesn’t see it having even the slightest impact on sales of the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck.
“If he [Elon Musk] wants to design a Cybertruck for Silicon Valley people, fine,” he said during a CNBC interview.

Farley described the Tesla Cybertruck as more of a “cool high-end product parked in front of a H๏τel”.
“I don’t make trucks like that… I make trucks for real people who do real work, and that’s a different kind of truck,” he said.
The Ford CEO maintained “we are the market leader for EV trucks and vans, and we know those customers better than anyone”.
He certainly has nothing to worry about if Tesla continues to push back the release of the Cybertruck.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who this week challenged Mark Zuckerberg to a cage fight, is standing firm that the company will release its Cybertruck before the end of 2023.
He says deliveries of the truck will also roll out before the end of the year, which is two years later than originally planned.
Musk hasn’t revealed a new price for the electric pickup truck since confirming it would be a lot more expensive than first predicted.
When it was first announced in 2019, the Cybertruck was marketed at $39,900, but speaking at the annual shareholder meeting, Musk admitted it would be priced much higher.
He cited inflation and other “various issues” for the price hike but didn’t reveal how much more it would be.
The Ford F-150 Lightning meanwhile, starts at $59,974, which we dare say will be a fair bit cheaper than the Cybertruck.
